Easter 2012

Congratulations to all our 6th class boys and girls who were confirmed on Friday last in the local church. The church was packed to capacity for the lovely ceremony conducted by Fr. Joe Coyne assisted by Fr. George. Thanks to the Parents' Association which provided refreshments in the atrium afterwards. The Association seem to perform the miracle of the loaves and fishes each time they host parents and friends for refreshments. Thanks to the Association also for all its work during the year and most recently organising the envelope collection of voluntary donations to the school. Thanks to all the parents and families who contributed to the fund which will be used for the benefit of the children.
There has been some development in the fence issue at the side of the school, the broken one has been removed. We are not sure what is proposed as an alternative and are awaiting developments.
Our 4th Green Flag assessment has taken place and the school is hopeful that all the work of the Green Team and the cooperation of families will result in the awarding of an astonishing 4th Flag. Well done to all. Keep walking and cycling to school! It will keep us all fit...and avoid getting a parking ticket!
Congratulations to those boys and girls who took part in "The WIZ" with Mr. Ó Sullivan at the Tivoli Theatre recently.
Thank you to parents for your responses to our survey on school tours. The staff have agreed to have school trips for classes 2 to 6 this year. A fun day will be organised at the school for infants and the 1st classes may take a short trip to a nearby facility such as Millennium Park. Teachers will do their utmost to keep the cost of the tours down to around €20 as requested by the majority of parents.
Congratulations to all the school teams, in soccer, Gaelic football and hurling which have been taking part in various competitions since Christmas. Thank you to all the teachers who give of their spare time after school to train these teams and to travel with them.
I wish all the boys and girls, their parents and teachers and special needs assistants a very happy Easter and we look forward to our final school term commencing on Monday 16th April
